MVP Launch of Application Rationalization Service Platform

Outcome Snapshot
Led end-to-end delivery of a custom WordPress-based application rationalization platform, enabling a global tech firm to win client engagements by streamlining complex workflows, surveys, and reporting into one secure portal.

The Strategic Challenge
The company needed a lightweight but full-featured service delivery platform to support their new application rationalization offering. This system had to unify survey tools, progress tracking, team collaboration, file exchange, milestone delivery, and client-facing dashboards—all within a secure, mobile-friendly experience. The timeline was tight, driven by a live client opportunity, and the budget didn’t support a traditional dev stack. Early scope included:

  • Survey management + scoring
  • Custom dashboards per user
  • Project timelines and milestones
  • Internal discussions and messaging
  • Multi-role permissions and audit trails
  • Time-based recommendations (Tolerate, Invest, Migrate, Eliminate)

My Role
I led the full project from initial scoping through MVP launch:

  • Defined solution architecture and selected WordPress as the dev framework
  • Facilitated stakeholder working sessions to define and evolve requirements
  • Directed UI/UX design and system workflow
  • Built key components of the platform
  • Oversaw junior developer and coordinated client communication
  • Delivered stakeholder demos, trained client staff, and wrote supporting documentation

Strategy + Solution
Instead of building custom software from scratch, I architected a rapid MVP using WordPress Core, advanced plugin extensions, and custom-coded logic—backed by managed SOC 2-compliant hosting. Key components included:

  • Role-based dashboards for clients and internal teams
  • Assignable tasks, sub-tasks, milestone tracking, Gantt and Kanban views
  • In-app discussions with file uploads, private messaging, and real-time notifications
  • Advanced web-based survey forms with inline scoring and analysis
  • TIME-model recommendations per application
  • Activity logging and granular permission settings
  • Data tables with filter, sort, export, and drill-down reporting
  • Responsive design for desktop, tablet, and mobile usability
  • Secure environment with SSL, plugin hardening, and admin controls

Business Impact

  • Delivered the entire MVP in under 5 months with part-time resources
  • Enabled the company to immediately onboard new clients
  • Built an extensible platform to evolve with service needs
  • Supported internal team learning while testing the offering in-market
  • Delivered a full SaaS-like experience on a WordPress backbone
